Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, has welcomed news of the 1,690 new apprentices in his constituency between 2012 β 2014. There were 960 new starts comprising 530 intermediate positions, 390 advanced positions and 10 higher positions in the period of 2012-13, and 730 starts comprising 430 intermediate positions, 230 advanced positions and 20 higher positions in 2013-14.
Edward Garnier said: βIt can only be good news for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston that so many youngsters are going into apprenticeships to gain new skills and a better start. I am pleased that firms in the constituency are training people as apprentices and giving job-seekers skills for them to use throughout their careers.β
