Neil O'Brien, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston today welcomed increased police patrols and new police resources being deployed to fight burglaries in Oadby.
Mr O'Brien was today conducting a patrol of the areas most affected by a spate of recent crimes with Inspector Mike Cawley, and visiting some of those in Oadby who have been victims of the burglars.
Mr O'Brien said:
“Burglars have been targeting Oadby and nearby areas, particularly around Diwali, and know from meeting many residents and some of the victims that these criminals have caused real fear in our community.”
“I am pleased that our local police have now stepped up the number of night patrols in Oadby, brought in additional officers from elsewhere, including the force's Impact teams, and increased resourcing. As well as the visible presence there are also plain clothes officers working in the area. The next step is to build up Neighbourhood Watch activity to deter these evil criminals.”
“I and the police will be meeting with residents at Woodland Grange school at 7 PM on the 23rd of November to discuss how we can step up Neighbourhood Watch and secure our community. I hope people will come to hear about what the police are doing and how we can come together to help solve this problem.”
“I am also talking to the county council about whether we could get better lighting, particularly at times when criminals seem to be targeting the area.”
