Neil O'Brien, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, met with Alex Hoskyn, the founder of the Chatty Cafe scheme at Zeph's Cafe in Oadby.
The Chatty Cafe scheme is designed to tackle loneliness, by encouraging cafe visitors to sit and talk to one another at a designated 'chatter and natter' table.
Neil said, "this is a brilliant way of meeting new people, in a very relaxed and informal setting. Loneliness is a real issue that can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, background or ethnicity. I applaud Alex and her initiative, which is already making a difference to thousands of people across the country.
There are hundreds of cafes across the country with a designated table, so I'd certainly encourage anyone interested to visit the below website, to obtain further details of local schemes."
