Local MP Neil O’Brien has launched a competition for primary-aged children in Harborough, Oadby, and Wigston to mark the King’s Coronation. Mr O’Brien is encouraging children from the constituency to take part in this momentous occasion by getting creative; either by drawing a picture, making a model, or writing a poem.
The Coronation of King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May, the first time since 1953 that the UK has witnessed this centuries old tradition. Just as in 1953, communities up and down the country will celebrate in their own unique way, and the MP is encouraging local young people to get involved.
Neil O’Brien’s Coronation Competition is open to all primary-aged children in the Harborough constituency, and entries are invited until the deadline date of 30th April, with the winner announced on the Coronation weekend.
Speaking about the competition, Mr O’Brien said: “The Coronation will be a chance for all the communities of Harborough, Oadby, and Wigston to celebrate this historic moment, and I want local children to get involved by getting creative.
“I am looking for royal themed imaginative entries such as drawings, paintings, models, or poems. There is no limit to the type of entries, the more inventive the better! Entries can be submitted via parents or schools, in the post or by email.
“The Coronation provides a chance for all young people to get involved in this exciting once-in- lifetime event. I am looking forward to seeing some fantastic Royal entries.”
Entries can be submitted to [email protected] or to 24 Nelson Street, Market Harborough, LE16 9AY. Pictures of the entry will be acceptable. The competition will close on 30th April 2023.
