Last week Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, visited Meadowdale Primary School in Market Harborough. Earlier in the year Sir Edward was able to congratulate the school on securing funding from the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund and he was pleased to see on Friday how the school has progressed since receiving the money.
The school is using the money to begin work on a new sports hall which will significantly enhance the school’s current sports facilities. During the visit Sir Edward met the school’s head teacher, Kerry Rodger, the school’s site manager, Andrew Blyth, a School Governor, David Scott, the school’s business manager, Victoria Scranage, and other members of staff. He also visited pupils and teachers in their classrooms.
He was joined on the visit by Councillor Frankie Bell, a school parent and supply teacher, who said:
“After an enjoyable visit to the school, it is clear to see that the prospect of the new sports hall makes for an exciting time for the staff, parents and children at Meadowdale. Local support from the wider community for this development is hugely welcome. It will create a fantastic opportunity for this expanding school and an excellent addition to the district’s sports facilities.”
Sir Edward said: “I remember coming to Meadowdale when it first opened well over 10 years ago. It was a good school then but is an even better one now and can only improve further with the addition of the sports hall. The children will both enjoy and make good use of it and will do better in class as a result.”
