Neil O'Brien, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston spoke in the Chamber on Thursday 18th January 2018, in a debate concerning the treatment of Small and Medium sized enterprises (SMEs) by banks.
During the debate, Neil made reference to a small business in the constituency, who had experienced issues with their bank stretching back nine years.
Neil said: "SMEs are the backbone of our economy and it is essential their ambition and growth is supported by banks; a change in lending culture is needed.
In addition to this, a strengthened role for the ombudsman to ensure clearer and firmer actions are available for when things do unfortunately go wrong, as they have for my constituent."
